Thanks so much to everyone who signed this petition, requesting the state government to consult with small egg producers, before introducing legislation to register and regularly inspect flocks, and stamping eggs for sale. The petition is now closed so hopefully the government will soon respond, and small egg producers and their flocks will have a future.
Here is an update on the proposed new laws concerning egg production in Tasmania. This audio by small egg producer Paulette Whitney explains the issue well. A petition signed by over 500 people on Sunday 24 August at the Farm Gate Market Hobart, requesting the State Government to consult with small egg producers, will be going online soon. Watch this space if you wish to sign it, so we can all stay in the loop and stop the demise of small egg producers in Tasmania. SPKAT Inc and many others sent submissions on the issue to the government in January this year but no-one has heard back from them. Click on the following link to listen to the audio.
